Continuous criminal monitoring
A background check is a snapshot of the day it ran. Continuous criminal monitoring keeps watching after the hire and alerts you when a new record appears — for $1.70 per individual per month.
One-time search vs. monitoring
| One-time criminal search | Continuous monitoring | |
|---|---|---|
| When it runs | Once, at order time | Ongoing, after enrollment |
| What you learn | History up to today | New records as they appear |
| Pricing | Per check | $1.70/individual per month |
| Best for | Pre-hire decisions | Active employees, tenants, and contractors |
How to set it up
- Enroll the people you want to monitor from the monitoring section of your dashboard — employees, contractors, or tenants
- Each enrolled individual is billed monthly; unenroll anyone at any time to stop future charges
- Monitoring availability can depend on your account configuration — if you don't see the monitoring option, contact support to enable it
What results show
- When a new record appears, you get an email alert
- Alerts are reviewed in the same dashboard as your original reports
- An alert indicates a possible new record — verify it through your normal adjudication process before acting
Compliance notes
- Ongoing consent is required for monitoring — it's collected as part of enrollment
- Treat an alert as a starting point, not a decision
FAQs
Does monitoring replace re-running background checks?▼
It covers new criminal records between checks. Many teams still re-run full checks periodically for searches monitoring doesn't cover, like verifications or credit.
When does billing start?▼
Billing is per enrolled individual per month. Unenrolling stops future monthly charges for that person.
